Moira
Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 17, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Moira ("Moira," "we," "us," or "our") handles information when you use the Moira iOS app, including local and remote notifications, custom notifications, saved signs, the life calendar, widgets, subscriptions, feedback, and related app settings.
Summary
- Moira is designed to be low-data and does not require an account.
- Moira does not sell your personal data.
- Moira does not collect your contacts, precise location, health data, microphone input, camera input, or browsing history.
- Much of Moira's content and settings stay on your device, including your date of birth or life-calendar setup, saved signs, custom notification text, custom sender names, app preferences, local notification records, and widget preferences.
- Moira uses limited service providers to operate the app:
- PostHog, hosted in the EU, for product analytics and diagnostics;
- Supabase and Apple Push Notification service (APNs) for remote notification delivery and related delivery records;
- Apple, for App Store purchases, subscriptions, refunds, and notification permission controls.
Information Stored On Your Device
Moira stores the following information locally on your device using iOS storage such as UserDefaults and app files:
- date of birth or life-calendar setup data, if you choose to provide it;
- notification preferences, including frequency, voice intensity, pause state, and notification permission status;
- subscription and paywall state used to unlock paid features and present offers;
- scheduled Moira notification records, including message text, persona, tone, theme, and scheduled time;
- delivered notification records used to show your latest sign;
- saved or liked signs;
- custom notification text, custom sender names, repeat settings, and scheduled times;
- local notification tap history for Moira-generated signs;
- app settings such as selected app icon style;
- widget display settings shared with the Moira widget.
This local information is used to run Moira, schedule and display notifications, show your life calendar, keep saved signs available, power the widget, remember your preferences, and avoid repeating notification content.
You can remove most local app data by deleting Moira from your device. Some settings may also be reset or changed inside the app where controls are available.
Analytics And Diagnostics
Moira uses PostHog to collect limited product analytics and diagnostics from explicit in-app events. Analytics helps us understand whether Moira is working, which features are used, whether notifications are being scheduled or tapped, whether paid features are discovered, and where the app may need improvement.
Analytics events may include:
- product events, such as profile opened, paywall shown, subscription started, feedback submitted, app icon changed, pause set, or pause cleared;
- notification events, such as notification scheduled, notification tapped, sign saved, or sign unsaved;
- Moira notification metadata, such as message ID, persona, tone, theme, scheduled time, and time since shown;
- preference metadata, such as selected notification frequency and voice intensity;
- custom notification usage metadata, such as custom notification created, deleted, or tapped;
- technical information commonly processed by analytics SDKs, such as device type, operating system version, app version, timestamps, diagnostic data, IP address, and app or device identifiers.
For user-created custom notifications, Moira does not intentionally send your custom notification text or custom sender name to PostHog analytics. For Moira-generated notifications, event records may include Moira message content and related metadata so we can evaluate content quality, delivery behavior, and engagement.
Remote Push Notifications
Moira uses Apple's notification systems. Depending on your app version, subscription state, and notification settings, Moira may schedule local notifications on your device and may also use a remote push backend to deliver Moira-generated notification signs.
To register your device for remote push delivery, Moira may send the following information to our backend service:
- APNs device token;
- Moira installation ID;
- development or production APNs environment;
- timezone;
- selected notification frequency and voice intensity;
- platform and app version;
- subscription status;
- notification pause status and pause-until time.
Moira's backend may store delivery-related records, including installation ID, message ID, delivery status, APNs response identifiers, delivery errors, and timestamps. This is used to deliver notifications, respect your pause and frequency settings, avoid repeated content, debug delivery failures, and improve reliability.
When you interact with a Moira-generated notification, Moira may send an event record to the backend that includes the installation ID, message ID, event type, persona, tone, theme, Moira message text, scheduled time, time since shown, app version, and timestamp.
Custom notifications that you write yourself are stored and scheduled on your device. Moira does not intentionally upload your custom notification text or custom sender name to the remote push backend. Moira may process non-content metadata about custom notifications, such as creation, deletion, repeat mode, scheduled time, and tap events.
You can disable notifications at any time in iOS Settings. If notifications are disabled, Moira cannot deliver notification signs until you re-enable permission. You can also change Moira notification frequency, voice intensity, and pause settings inside the app where available.
Custom Notifications
Moira lets you create your own notifications by choosing a sender name, message, time, and repeat mode. This content is stored locally on your device and scheduled through iOS notification APIs.
Moira may collect analytics metadata that a custom notification was created, deleted, or tapped, but it does not intentionally send the custom message text or custom sender name to analytics or to the push backend.
Saved Signs And Life Calendar
If you save or like a Moira sign, Moira stores the sign text and related metadata locally so it can be shown in your profile. Sign saved and unsaved events may be recorded for analytics and backend event tracking.
If you use the life calendar, Moira stores your date of birth or setup data locally to render the calendar. Moira does not require this information unless you choose to use that feature.
Feedback
If you submit feedback inside Moira, Moira may record the rating and subscription state as an analytics event. The app may open your email client with a prepared feedback email. Any message you choose to send by email is handled by your email provider and received by us at the contact address below.
Payments And Subscriptions
Moira may offer subscriptions, free trials, promotional offers, or lifetime access. Payments are handled by Apple through the App Store.
Apple may process payment information, billing details, transaction history, refunds, taxes, and subscription management under Apple's own terms and privacy policy. Moira receives purchase and entitlement status information from StoreKit so the app can unlock paid features, update subscription state, and schedule post-purchase notifications. Moira does not receive or store your credit card number.
You can manage or cancel subscriptions in your Apple ID subscription settings.
Service Providers
Moira uses the following service providers:
- PostHog for product analytics and diagnostics. Moira is configured to use PostHog Cloud EU.
- Supabase for remote push backend functions, device registration storage, notification delivery records, and notification event records.
- Apple for APNs, iOS notification permission controls, widgets, StoreKit, App Store purchases, subscriptions, and refunds.
These providers process information on our behalf or as independent providers under their own terms and privacy practices. We use them to operate Moira, deliver notifications, process purchases, improve the product, detect problems, and maintain security.

Data Sharing
We do not sell personal data.
We may share information only in the following limited cases:
- with service providers such as PostHog and Supabase, for analytics, diagnostics, push delivery, backend storage, and product operations;
- with Apple, when you use App Store payments, subscriptions, APNs, widgets, or iOS notification permission controls;
- if required by law, regulation, legal process, or a valid government request;
- to protect the rights, safety, security, and integrity of Moira, users, or others;
- in connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, or sale of assets, if Moira or related assets are transferred.
Data Retention
Local app data remains on your device until you delete it, reset it inside the app where available, or uninstall Moira.
Backend device registration, delivery, notification event, and analytics records are retained only as long as reasonably needed to operate Moira, deliver notifications, debug issues, improve product quality, understand usage, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and maintain security.
Where data is processed by PostHog, Supabase, Apple, or other infrastructure providers, retention may also be governed by our configuration and their applicable service terms.
Your Choices And Controls
You can control Moira data and permissions in several ways:
- turn notifications off or on in iOS Settings;
- change notification frequency, voice intensity, and pause settings inside Moira;
- delete custom notifications in the app;
- remove saved signs from your profile;
- change or remove life-calendar setup data where the app provides controls;
- manage or cancel subscriptions through Apple;
- uninstall Moira to remove local app data from your device.
You may contact us to request access, correction, deletion, or other privacy rights related to information associated with you, where applicable. Because Moira does not require an account, we may need information from you to verify and locate relevant records, such as an installation ID or details about your request.
International Data Processing
Moira may use service providers that process data in the European Union, the United States, or other countries. When information is transferred internationally, we rely on appropriate safeguards where required by applicable law.
Children's Privacy
Moira is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal data to Moira, contact us and we will take appropriate action.
Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures designed to protect information processed by Moira and its service providers. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Changes To This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy as Moira changes. If we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date and, where appropriate, provide additional notice.
